Cartier is Coming to Town
Cartier hosted their annual holiday celebration to launch their limited edition holiday cards. Ben Affleck and Rachel Bilson stopped by to see Santa, the latter dripping in more than $350,000 worth of Cartier jewels. I'm particularly smitten with those 5+-carat earrings...I hope I hope I hope Santa will take pity on a very bling-less little Jewess and make an exception just this one Hanukkah season...

Cartier Holds Elephant Polo Match In Jaipur (India)
Players prepare to begin the Cartier Elephant Polo Cup in Jaipur, in the Indin state of Rajasthan.
Cartier hosted the event which was held to highlight the plight of the dwindling numbers of Asian elephants. Indian and international celebrities flew in the India's 'Pink City' for the high society event held by the global watch and jewelry giant. The animal rights organization, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, 'PETA' had planned to protest the match, saying that elephants should not be used for sport. Elephants in Jaipur are commonly used for carrying tourists at historic sites.
The name Cartier is synonymous with beautiful objects of quality and style. Although Cartier are perhaps better known for their fine jewellery, their signed wristwatches have made a huge impression on the global watch market and have become increasingly collectable over the years. Many of their fabulous watches can be regarded as pieces of jewellery in their own right and Cartier have become renowned throughout the world.
Louis Cartier (1875-1942) has in fact been credited for creating the first mans wristwatch in 1904, when he designed a watch for his friend and client Brazilian Alberto Santos-Dumont. Santos-Dumont was one of the early pioneers of aviation, and he needed a more suitable timepiece for his dare devil flights. He asked Cartier to design something for him and the "Santos" was born, although it did not go on sale until 1911. By that date Louis Cartier had begun the exclusive production of the first wristwatches at his establishment in Paris on the Rue de la Paix, helped by Edmond Jaeger.
Cartier's history really begins when Louis Francois Cartier (1819-1904) followed the steps of his grandfather, also called Louis Francois Cartier (1755-1793), by becoming a goldsmith. He started his career as an apprentice to Adolphe Picard, producing handmade jewellery in a small workshop at 29 Rue Montorgeuil, and quickly developed into one of the finest jewellers in Paris. When his master Picard died in 1847 Cartier succeeded him and the company that bore his name was born.
"This charismatic bracelet, so rich in associations, is the centrepiece of the Love Day that Cartier celebrates each year on June 11," said Narumol Patrathiranond, country manager of Cartier Thailand. "It's a day when Cartier donates 10 percent of its worldwide sales of the Love collection to humanitarian organisations."
One of the things that high-end retail stores do is to decorate their storefronts during the holiday season. Thus, a walk on Fifth Avenue can be a lot of fun.
Cartier Brand-new Jewelry Wristwatches in Top Quality,,,,,
Cartier recently comes up with a brand-new series of jewelry wristwatches with its extraordinary excellence and absolutely fine technology, deducing a mysterious and dazzling fashion. Cartier yields to the unique arts of the world by the mysterious charm of the color and its talent for depicting.
Le Cirque Animalier de Cartier Jewelry Watch in Lanneret Design
It’s the continuity of Cartier’s brilliant history of watch making, converging the meta-exceptional design and exquisite technology. This introduction of high-level wristwatch and those in limited edition constitute the classic series, vivid and dynamic. Raccoon, crocodile and Lanneret design must be the instant love for the public. Cartier again shows its tireless research for mechanical craftwork and the ambition for the future by the movements independently launched by itself with complex functions.

Lanneret, crocodile and raccoon gradually joined in the dreaming team for charming countries traveling. Three kinds of original masterpieces are all marked the item number in limited edition, demonstrating the pure craft of jewelry production.
Cartier inlaid the diamonds on the grey MOP dial to constitute the mysterious star. Green enamel leaves are mixed up with diamonds as ornaments. The raccoon is in a state to soar with the black painted wings extending at the two ends of the dial. Cartier invited multi-professional craftsmen to create the micro-stage with three-dimensional sculpture plus day and night effort. The circle-in-circle stage design is with crystal mosaic covered in diamonds, which leads us a timeless masterpiece.

Cartier receives student brain gain
Luxury brands such as Cartier, Christian Dior, Hermes, Louis Vuitton and Lalique have all participated in a programme orchestrated by Colombia Business School and Parsons the School of Design. The programme, which is part of a joint interdisciplinary course in Design and Marketing of Luxury Goods, allows students to evaluate brands and present suggestions to top executives. Students also learn about the competitive landscape and customers’ experiences.
Cartier in particular has been keenly absorbing new suggestions from students. It’s paying attention to the future even as it celebrates its 100th birthday this year.
“We have to follow the client, and yes, the client is changing. We’re also trying to pick up future clients.” Frederic de Narp, president and CEO of Cartier North America said in the Washington Times. He added: “We always want to be part of the culture.”
There were indeed several interesting ideas surfacing from the project, and this type of collaboration offers good opportunities to everyone involved: companies access free ‘brain gain’ from fresh minds, whilst students get high-profile experience.
Courtnay Thomas, who participated in the programme, recommended that Cartier create a bridal experience as a way of solidifying its relationship with younger customers. This would involve devoting a specific area in stores to wedding-related jewelry, hosting brunches for couples and even supporting concierge services. All this could encourage customer retention and loyalty. Perhaps not surprising in the current climate, ‘loyalty’ was the general buzzword amongst students.
Student Eloise Kordaris looked at Cartier’s flagship store, suggesting it needs some modernization. Her solution was a spa-like, Zen environment featuring a ‘watch bar’ in the style of a sushi bar. Kordaris found that customers often do research on the internet before coming in to the shop, and therefore often already know what they want to buy – therefore they do not want to spend an afternoon browsing jewelry cases. The watch bar is therefore designed to give customers a more streamlined experience, where they can walk up to the bar and order.
I think it’s interesting that customers want to spend less time in store – in the past, many took great pleasure in the meandering and discovery surrounding a purchase. Stores can control customers’ experiences with the brand when they are in a store in ways that are difficult to do online.
